During the 14th Five Year Plan period, the State Grid planned to build the "24 AC and 14 DC" UHV project, involving more than 30000 kilometers of lines, 340 million KVA transformation capacity and a total investment of 380 billion yuan. This year, the State Grid plans to start 13 UHV lines of "10 AC and 3 DC". In the context of carbon peak and carbon neutralization, strengthening grid construction, especially UHV construction, can effectively solve the problems of high proportion of renewable energy grid connection and large-scale allocation across provinces and regions in China. As an important measure to build a new power system, AC / DC UHV transmission project will become the key investment direction of power grid in the 14th five year plan.

01 the construction of cross provincial and cross regional channels will be strengthened

The outline of the 14th five year plan proposes to build nine mainland clean energy bases and five offshore wind power bases in the Yalong River Basin, Songliao, northern Hebei, jiziwan of the Yellow River and the upper reaches of the Jinsha River.

Represented by the clean energy bases on the nine continents, during the "14th five year plan" period, key new energy development areas include Xinjiang, Yunnan Guizhou, Southeast Tibet, Qinghai, Gansu, Mengxi and Northeast China, which are 1000-3000 kilometers away from the load center in the East.

With the continuous promotion of the new energy base, the existing UHV DC lines are gradually bundled. It is expected that the UHV DC lines will be built around the base during the 14th Five Year Plan period.

UHV can not only effectively support the large-scale optimal allocation of clean energy and help achieve the goals of carbon peak and carbon neutralization, but also improve the power supply guarantee capacity of the eastern and central regions. UHV has large investment scale and long industrial chain. The construction of UHV projects can effectively stimulate the development of upstream and downstream related industries and promote economic growth.

The UHV industrial chain includes cable, high-voltage electrical switchgear, new materials, converter valve, voltage transformation equipment, machinery and other related industries. At the same time, it can also rely on 5g to promote the development of high and new technologies such as animal networking and chips.

In addition, it is estimated that during the 14th Five Year Plan period, the average annual power grid investment of the two networks will exceed 650 billion yuan.
