China has built the world's largest 5g network and Gigabit access network

On September 23, 2021, the communication construction management offices of various administrative regions of Beijing Municipal Communications Administration were officially established. Xie existential, director of the information and Communication Development Department of the Ministry of industry and information technology, said at the awarding ceremony that China has built the world's largest 5g network and Gigabit access network.

Since the official commercial use of 5g in 2019, the network construction in China has developed rapidly. This year's government work report clearly proposed to strengthen the construction of 5g network and gigabit optical network and enrich application scenarios.

Xie Cun said that the Ministry of industry and information technology has made gratifying achievements by focusing on the "double Gigabit Network" of 5g and gigabit optical network and jointly promoting network construction and integrated application.

First, the supply capacity has been comprehensively enhanced. The world's largest 5g network and Gigabit access network have been built. There are more than 1 million 5g base stations, covering all prefecture level cities, more than 95% of counties and districts and 35% of townships and towns in China, and the number of 5g end users has exceeded 400 million. More than 300 prefectures and cities have launched Gigabit home entry pilot projects, and gigabit optical networks have covered more than 200 million households.

Second, the quality of development has been comprehensively improved. The co construction and sharing of networks have been comprehensively deepened. Supporting facilities such as pole roads, iron towers and pipelines can be used instead of new ones, and can be shared instead of used alone. The world's largest co construction and sharing 5g network has been built. There are more than 460000 5g shared base stations, saving more than 100 billion investment and more than 10 billion kwh of electricity per year, forming a resource intensive, energy-saving and efficient green network.

Third, the support capacity has been enhanced in an all-round way. Since the outbreak of covid-19 pneumonia, China's powerful communication network has ensured the smooth access of Internet under concentrated traffic outbreak, and has effectively supported the needs of production and daily life of the masses in remote office, online education, telemedicine, etc. under the normalization of epidemic prevention and control.

Fourth, the role of integration and empowerment is fully demonstrated. All kinds of integrated applications expand to vertical industries and fields. According to statistics, there are more than 10000 5g application cases, covering more than 20 important industries and related fields of the national economy, such as steel, electric power and mining. A large number of colorful application scenarios have been formed, which has become a new engine leading China's high-quality development.

It is reported that the district communication construction management offices of Beijing Municipal Bureau of communications will give full play to the service and supervision role of housing construction enterprises and information and communication enterprises, work closely with district governments to jointly promote the construction of communication infrastructure, and lay a solid foundation for realizing the goal of building Beijing into a benchmark city of global digital economy.
