Which of the five common cable sheaths is the most suitable?

Release date:2022-04-13 15:19:02Number of views:107

When selecting connecting products, in addition to the joint adaptation that must be considered, another part is also very important, that is, the sheath of the cable. As the most important barrier to protect the internal interface, various materials of cable sheath play different protection. Users need to find a suitable and affordable cable sheath according to their actual use scenarios.

Below we list the common cable sheath materials, including advantages and disadvantages, which are suitable for consideration when selecting connection products.

1、 PVC material

1.jpg

Definition: it is a particle prepared by mixing, kneading and extrusion based on polyvinyl chloride resin, adding stabilizer, plasticizer, inorganic fillers such as calcium carbonate, additives and lubricants.

Advantages: it can be prepared to be used in various environments and applications. It has the advantages of low cost, good flexibility, quite strong, and fire / oil resistance.

Disadvantages: some low-end PVC materials contain harmful substances, which may be unstable when applied to special environments. At present, PVC material has also been upgraded to enhance environmental protection elements and improve performance.

2、 PE material

2.jpg

Definition: polyethylene material, which is also very common. The linear molecular structure of polyethylene makes it easy to deform at high temperature. Therefore, in the application of PE in wire and cable industry, polyethylene is often turned into a network structure by cross-linking, so that it also has strong deformation resistance at high temperature.

Advantages: it is more environmentally friendly. Generally, such products have passed the ROHS environmental pollution test of the European Union. It has excellent electrical insulation performance and good processing performance.

Disadvantages: general weather resistance, not suitable for high temperature environment.

3、 Pur material

3.jpg

Definition: polyurethane (PUR) is a polymer with repeated structural units of carbamate segments, which is made by the reaction of isocyanate and polyol.

Advantages: excellent oil resistance, good toughness, wear resistance, cold resistance (low temperature resistance), water resistance, aging resistance, acid and alkali resistance, climate resistance, long service life, UV resistance and many excellent functions. It is suitable for harsh occasions such as oil pollution and low temperature environment.

Disadvantages: it has many functions, and the natural price will be slightly higher. Compared with PVC materials, the cost will be much higher.

4、 TPE / TPR material

4.jpg

Definition: TPE (thermoplastic elastomer) thermoplastic elastomer, sometimes called TPR (thermoplastic rubber), namely thermoplastic rubber.

Advantages: it has good chemical resistance and oil resistance, and is very flexible and better in wear resistance.

Disadvantages: not very strong, also not resistant to high temperature, usually can not be used for a long time in an environment above 80 ° C.

5、 TPU material

5.jpg

Definition: generally known as polyurethane material, it is thermoplastic polyurethane elastomer rubber.

Advantages: it is mainly divided into polyester type and polyether type, with hardness range (60ha-85hd), wear resistance, oil resistance, transparency and good elasticity. TPU not only has excellent characteristics of high wear resistance, high tension, high tension, toughness and aging resistance, but also is a mature environmental protection material.

Disadvantages: slightly lacking in firmness and easy to deform.
